Josef Levy was employed by the City of Long Beach and was a Commander with the Long Beach Police Department. During his twenty- eight-year career, he worked assignments in patrol, gangs, internal affairs, hostage negotiations, media relations and commanded a patrol division before his retirement in 2012.

 

Josef designs and delivers a multitude of quality training programs and was his department’s cultural diversity instructor. He is also an adjunct staff member at the Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance and has conducted workshops for thousands of law enforcement and educator professionals throughout the State of California. He travels around the country training on the State and Federal level as well as the International level, training delegations from France, Germany, Israel, Algiers and Russia.

 

He speaks regularly at schools, colleges, and to community groups. He was selected to assist in designing curriculum for The Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) for the state mandated Racial Profiling Training for law enforcement throughout the State of California. He has also co-facilitated a variety of mentally ill training courses that have been delivered to thousands of law enforcement professionals in California and Nevada.

 

Commander Levy is now Co-Owner of his firm, Embassy Consulting Services, LLC and continues to utilize his skills, experience and passion to educate others on the importance of building and maintaining safe, respectful and inclusive communities. Josef has received various prestigious awards and has been recognized at the Congressional level.

 

Josef is a cancer survivor and the President and Co-Founder of the National Law Enforcement Cancer Support Foundation. He is married and he and his wife have four sons.
