Melvin (Mel) McGuire is a retired Long Beach Police Department Commander. He spent over 24 years working for the LBPD. He worked a variety of assignments in his career and brings a wealth of personal and professional experience to his presentations.
He is a husband, married to his amazing wife Gigi for almost 33 years. He is the father of one daughter, who is a recent graduate of USC.
He is an avid golfer, loves to write inspirational articles, and spends his spare time teaching and training a variety of law enforcement related topics.
He has taught Active Shooter Response training for over 20 years and is known as an engaging, energetic, and passionate instructor. His desire to teach people how to survive these tragic events, by presenting fact-based, practical solutions, is evident in the feedback to his training sessions.
