Ian Huri is the Division Chief for the Support Services Division at the King County Sheriff’s Office, overseeing essential functions such as 911 call dispatching, Human Resources, Training, Technology, Property Management, Finance, Public Disclosure, and Courthouse Security. With a focus on improving efficiency and supporting other divisions, Ian’s leadership plays a crucial role in the Sheriff’s Office and the community.

 

A lifelong Washingtonian, Ian’s career in law enforcement spans over two decades. Prior to joining the King County Sheriff’s Office, he served at the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for 21 years, holding various roles including Undersheriff, Chief of Operations and Contract Services, SWAT negotiator, and patrol officer. Ian is especially proud of his work creating a unit that paired law enforcement officers with social workers to assist the unhoused and those battling substance use disorders. This initiative earned him a Medal of Merit from the National Sheriff’s Association and a Law Award from the Snohomish County Human Rights Commission.

 

Ian holds a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Washington State University. He is also a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and has earned the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award. Ian lives in south Snohomish County with his wife of 25 years and their two children. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, sports, and coaching youth sports, while also supporting Special Olympics Washington and serving on a committee at Archbishop Murphy High School.
