
Critical Incident Response for Peer Support Teams
This POST certified course is designed to prepare support team members to respond to and effectively support the psychological recovery and resilience of public safety personnel after a large-scale critical incident, such as an active shooter or terrorist event. All public safety employees and peer support members are encouraged to attend.
Topics will include:
– Identify the ripple effect of a critical incident
– Discuss & define the role of peer support
– Increasing capacity to support in the aftermath
– Understand acute stress reactions
– Learn how to reduce post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI)
– Increasing crisis counseling skills
– Increase self-care
