Captain Tim Plotts (Ret.) served 30 years with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, retiring as a troop commander (captain). Throughout his career, he was actively involved in field operations and training. As one of the earliest FBI-LEEDA instructors, he has delivered 275 leadership courses nationwide.
Captain Plotts holds a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University and a Master’s in Leadership and Management from Montreat College. He completed the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Management Program’s 101st session and attended the 242nd session of the FBI National Academy.
Recognized for his leadership, he received the inaugural William G. Hyatt Leadership Award and the Meritorious Service Award from the North Carolina Highway Patrol. He also played a key role in establishing the Western North Carolina Law Enforcement Leadership Academy.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Captain Plotts is a volunteer rapid response Chaplain. He enjoys spending quality time with family and friends in his free time.
