“That’s Not What I Meant!” Communication Strategies to Reduce Conflict & Increase Quality of Life
Have you been in the middle of a conversation or argument and thought to yourself, “that’s not what I meant?” Why is it that the message sent is not always the message received? This virtual workshop will explore physiological and emotional reactions to triggers and how your personality impacts communication. The training will also discuss effective strategies to reduce conflict, improve communication and relationships. All public safety professionals and their spouse/partners are encouraged to register.
Presenter: Heather Williams, PsyD. of Premier First Responder Psychological Services
After spending 5 years with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as the Regional Peer Support Coordinator, Heather elected to take her passion to another level and in 2019, established Premier First Responder Psychological Services. As a licensed psychologist, Heather is providing culturally competent services to individuals and couples and assists public safety professionals with treatment in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Additionally, Heather assists public safety departments develop and sustain peer support programs, provides 24/7 critical incident response, facilitates a 2-step model of critical incident debriefing, provides training on various topics and active shooter response and recovery coordination/response services.
