Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice which can improve focus, concentration, awareness, and cultivate the ability to stay calm even in stressful situations.  This is accomplished by improving your ability to pay attention.  It combines meditation with the practice of mindfulness, which can be defined as paying attention to present moment experience with openness and non-judgement.  The result is a practice which trains the primary system, responsible for everything that you do, the mind.

During this two-hour virtual course, students that are not familiar with mindfulness mediation will gain an understanding of the practice, how it can be beneficial for them, and get to try the practice for themselves.  Students that have already taken the 1-hour course, will have the opportunity to deepen and progress in their practice with the introduction of additional mindfulness practices, including “in the moment” techniques for any life situation.

Topics will include:

–  Understanding mindfulness and the practice of meditation including its mental and physical health benefits, as well as positive effects on cognitive performance

–  How to practice mindfulness meditation, and discuss ways to support a regular practice

–  Practicing meditation exercises

–  How to establish a daily training routine

–  In the moment mindfulness techniques

–  How to take your practice to the next level



Jeff Takeda | Embassy Consulting ServicesOfficer Jeff Takeda

Jeff Takeda is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and an active law enforcement officer with over 20 years of experience. His assignments have included patrol officer, field training officer, SWAT team member, major crimes detective, and task force officer with a federal counter terrorism task force.

In 2020 Jeff started Takeda Training Concepts, which provides meditation training to first responders and veterans. Jeff is a long-time meditation practitioner. He is a trained mindfulness facilitator through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center and a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association. In addition, he co-founded a mindfulness program at his police department and leads a weekly meditation program for Veterans and First Responders.

Jeff has taught meditation programs to physicians, federal law enforcement personnel, executive protection professionals, social workers, and community groups.
